The Disaster Relief Edition of the Together We Can Contest Series is now closed. Explore the content below to learn more about the short- and long-term disaster relief that Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) provides.
Since 1968, LCIF has supported the service of Lions worldwide through grant funding. Our foundation enables some of the largest-impact humanitarian efforts that Lions undertake.
Each year, LCIF awards hundreds of Disaster Relief Grants, so local Lions can provide help and recovery where it's needed most.
When devastating floods hit Paraguay in December 2015, more than 130,000 people lost their homes. As relief workers and supplies poured in, LCIF provided a US$200,000 Major Catastrophe grant.
Part of that grant money was used to provide mobile classrooms to serve the 17,000 students affected by the flood. These durable structures can accommodate 50 students and are designed to stay 10 degrees cooler than the outside temperature.
This contest ran from March 1–31, 2018. Lucky winners of this and other months' contests will receive an exclusive LCIF 50th Anniversary medal, plus an invitation to LCIF recognition events at the Lions Clubs International Convention in Las Vegas (travel and convention registration not included).
Congratulations to the winners of the Together We Can Contest: Disaster Relief Edition! Enter this month's contest for your chance to join them.
Lions who entered our March contest uploaded photos of things they'd miss if lost in a disaster. Check out these pictures of the possessions your fellow Lions and Leos value most.
