The Measles Edition of the Together We Can Contest Series is now closed. Explore the content below to learn more about Lions Clubs International Foundation's (LCIF) efforts to fight measles, one of the leading causes of death for children under age five.
Since 1968, LCIF has supported the service of Lions worldwide through grant funding. Our foundation enables some of the largest-impact humanitarian efforts that Lions undertake.
LCIF is an official partner of the Measles & Rubella Initiative (MRI). One of the most effective partnerships in the history of public health, MRI is on track to immunize more than 700 million children in 49 countries by 2020.
With funding from LCIF, Lions of Multiple District 307 in Indonesia have joined the Indonesian government and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, in a measles and rubella (MR) immunization campaign. The two-year program is designed to provide vaccines to at least 95% of Indonesia's children between the ages of nine months and 16 years by the end of 2018.
To overcome myths and misperceptions about vaccinations, local Lions are mobilizing in their communities, using social media, radio and meetings with school administrators, religious leaders and local government officials. Vaccines are made available during school vaccination days, and at local clinics, hospitals and community centers.
This contest ran from January 2–31, 2018. Lucky winners of this and other months' contests will receive an exclusive LCIF 50th Anniversary medal, plus an invitation to LCIF recognition events at the Lions Clubs International Convention in Las Vegas (travel and convention registration not included).
Congratulations to the winners of the Together We Can Contest: Measles Edition! Enter this month's contest for your chance to join them.
